As a fan of social media this has been a great news item to sit at the sidelines and watch it all unfold.
In case you’ve missed the hype, Greenpeace released a video to bring to light the damage they have suggested Nestle are doing to get palm oil for their prodcuts.
The video is quite ‘out-there’ with the use of blood and some initial feedback with friends has been negative to this, but I’m sure a larger percentage of the population are quite use to this type of imagery. At first glance, I thought it was a clever advertising trick by Nestle, not an attack by Greenpeace.
I then came across this article that explains the series of events further and brings to light how Nestle have used Social Media to mop up this publicity horror. Unfortunatly, it wasnt handled well:
I look forward to seeing how long this stays in the social space and how Nestle spin this one in their favour for the sake of their reputation and the apes.
